Bedroom Check for Better Sleep

Having a hard time catching those Zzz’s at night? Make sure you are creating an ideal environment for sleep and check your bedroom. You may need to make some changes. Here are five simple ways to improve your sleep life!

Darkness Rule:

Did you know exposure to artificial light when you’re trying to sleep suppresses your body’s production of the sleep hormone melatonin? Use blackout curtains or an eye mask and let there be DARK!

Noise Rule:

If anyone else out there doesn’t enjoy being hot when they sleep, the use of a fan can knock out two birds with one stone! Not only will you take the temperature down a notch, but you’ll get to knock out some noise as well. There is always the choice to invest in a noise machine. I personally LOVED when Ava was sleeping in our room because of her noise machine! The term “sleeping like a baby” doesn’t sound appealing after going through Ava’s sleep regression BUT it only makes sense that if it helps baby sleep, it’ll help you sleep as well!

Mattress Rule:

I am actually bad at this one, but if your mattress is older than five to seven years, it could need replacing. Waking up sore and know it’s not because of your workout? Your mattress may be to blame! Research, Invest/Save for a new mattress so your sleep at night is quality and comfy!

Cool Down Rule:

Like I mentioned above, you’ll actually sleep better in a lower temperature. Experiment and find the right temperature for you!

Bedding Rule:

We just got a few sets of new sheet because #adulting and you it’s an amazing feeling to slip into bed and feel like royalty! Stick to bedding made from natural  fibers like bamboo, cotton and linen.

**Side Note: Baby Pictured below does NOT improve Sleeping Habits, but they will wear you out to the point of exhaustion to where none of the above will improve your sleep because as soon as your head hits the pillow  you…..are….OUT!! hahaha**

-Fun Fact….I actually didn’t get that Mom exhaustion until around month 5 when we were HEAVY into the 4 month sleep regression and the “newborn high” had worn off andddddd she was still in our room. 🙂 She now has her own room, sleep through the night! THANK YOU LORD!!!!
